We are committed to advancing surgical knowledge through expertly curated courses, live surgical broadcasts, and global collaboration—empowering every learner, from novice to expert, to support delivery of the highest standard of patient care.

About Us

Welcome to HerniaU—your trusted global platform for hernia education.

Founded in 2017 by a passionate team of surgeons and educators—Dr. Salvador Morales, Dr. Eduardo Parra Davila, and Dr. Flavio Malcher—HerniaU was born from a shared vision: to expand and elevate the landscape of hernia education. In partnership with the Surgical Education Team at BD, they launched the Hernia A to Z Fundamentals course, designed to reinforce the core principles of hernia repair. Soon after came the Hernia A to Z Advanced course which covers more advanced concepts such as multi-recurrent hernias, component separation, diastasis recti, and chronic pain. These courses on HerniaU offer a dynamic learning environment including:

  • Self-paced sessions you can complete from anywhere
  • Interactive quizzes and live Q&A chats with expert faculty
  • Certificates of completion to recognize your progress
  • Live case broadcasts to learn from real-life cases

Building upon these courses, we began broadcasting live cases and lectures to expand the educational offerings and training styles available to our community.


By 2025, we’ve streamed dozens of live cases performed by leading surgeons, offering a front-row seat to the operating room and an opportunity for viewers to ask questions in real time. Our video library is packed with surgical clips for on-demand learning; previously recorded webinars, and presentations from live symposia 
courses. Our more recent HerniaU Podcast features inspiring conversations with hernia experts from around the world.
