Hernia Night LIVE: Classifying Recurrence, Defining Success

October 27, 2026 | 8:30 PM EST | 5:30 PM PST

Recurrence has traditionally been a primary measure of success after hernia repair, but it does not always tell the complete story. In this virtual lecture, Dr. Salvatore Docimo will introduce a new classification system designed to bring greater clarity and clinical context to how recurrence is characterized. The discussion will expand beyond recurrence to consider quality of life, the patient experience, and the broader factors that influence how outcomes are evaluated. Through an engaging faculty discussion, Dr. Docimo and Dr. John Fischer will explore how surgeons can develop a more comprehensive and meaningful definition of success after hernia repair.
